  • “This is too simple.  Just believe in Jesus (trust in Him) alone for my salvation?  There has got to be more to it!”

Human logic and religions tell us over and over, “God is good so if you want to get to heaven you have to be good”.  This sounds right but does not agree with what God says in the Bible about how to go to heaven  The Bible is clear that righteousness from Jesus is required to get to heaven and not good works for salvation. Read this verse below.

II Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.

The serpent this verse refers to is Satan in the Garden of Eden.  He is at work to make people think that salvation is very hard and by works.  Don’t let him trick you.  The clearest verses in the Bible on salvation are:

Ephesians 2:8, 9  For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

This is simple, clear and concise.  Believe what the Bible says, not what man says.

  • “My religion teaches that works and doing good must be part of getting to heaven.  How can so many religions teach this and be wrong?”

Truth is not determined by the number of people who do something or believe something.  Jesus said this.

Matthew 7:13, 14 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.”For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Jesus said it would be few, not many who would be saved.  When he was on earth, the majority did not believe in Him as their savior even though he was right there and told them, “Truly, Truly I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life” John 6:47

Matthew 7:21-23   "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.”Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'  "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'

The narrow way is described in these verses in the context of Matthew 7.  The ones on the broad way are those who believe that by their wonderful, good works they will enter into heaven.  ONLY those who did His will concerning how to get to heaven will be there.  What is His will, what does He say you must do to be saved?  “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved” Acts 16:31

  • “I will think about this and do it later.”

Life and death are not something we have a lot of control over. We can be as safe as possible and still not escape tragic sudden death. It happens every day to people who are being safe. If salvation is a totally free gift with no strings attached, why would anyone turn it down? It makes good sense to settle this right now by putting your trust in Jesus as your savior. II Corinthians 6:2 for He says, "AT THE ACCEPTABLE TIME I LISTENED TO YOU, AND ON THE DAY OF SALVATION I HELPED YOU." Behold, now is "THE ACCEPTABLE TIME," behold, now is "THE DAY OF SALVATION"— Life and death are not something we have a lot of control over. We can be as safe as possible and still not escape tragic sudden death. It happens every day to people who are being safe. If salvation is a totally free gift with no strings attached, why would anyone turn it down? It makes good sense to settle this right now by putting your trust in Jesus as your savior.
  • “I don’t understand everything about God or the Bible to be able to put my trust in Him for my eternal salvation.”

In life there are many things we trust in yet we don’t understand everything about them.  Electricity is something I don’t understand but I turn on a light switch, believing that the light will come on.  When the light comes on, I know I have put my trust in the right thing.

You could never go wrong in putting your trust in Jesus as your Savior.  Once you do, the light will come on.  You will know you have done the right thing by two ways.

    (1) Romans 8:16 "The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God.”

When you say to God, “I trust in Jesus as my only savior and hope for heaven, I believe you died for me,” the spirit of God will agree with that prayer and the desire of your heart.  There may or may not be a feeling that comes over you.  But it will happen, you will know you have done the right thing and He will let you know this is the truth.

    (2) We must not go by our emotions or feelings to determine truth.  Our emotions can deceive us but the Word of God cannot deceive us.  This verse in I John tells us about our belief.

I John 5:10-13  The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. And the testimony is this, which God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

This is a written legal statement between God and you.  He states, “If you believe in Jesus for your salvation, I promise I will give you eternal life.  You have my word on it.”  Even if you do not know everything, and have doubts, GOD will never go back on His word to save you once you put your trust in Him.  You can be sure of your salvation.

  • “How could someone sin all they want and still go to heaven? I can’t believe that”

There is an unlimited supply of grace BUT there is a limited amount of patience with God. Romans 5:20-21 The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus death on the cross covered every sin of every person through all of history. There is no sin that has not been paid for, even the most horrible sin you can think of. This forgiveness is not deserved, therefore it is called “by grace you have been saved.” This grace SHOULD lead us to considering our way of life. Titus 2:11-13 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, How can we not examine our lives since Jesus has done so much for us? In response to this grace we should live a life pleasing to the one who died for us. If we willfully do not examine our lives, the result is discipline and possibly physical death. God treats us as a loving Father. He is patient a long time and will lovingly correct us when we do not listen to Him. However, the example of the Corinthian believers shows us that after a period of time some were taken to heaven prematurely because they were never willing to listen and obey the Lord. When Paul says “a number sleep” he is saying they are dead. A believer can never die spiritually (go to hell). When he dies physically he goes to heaven and Paul calls this sleeping. Spiritual death is the condition we are in before we believe in Jesus, spiritual life occurs when we believe in him. Their eternal destination never changed but they had a miserable life here on earth. Hebrews 12:5-6 and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, "MY SON, DO NOT REGARD LIGHTLY THE DISCIPLINE OF THE LORD, NOR FAINT WHEN YOU ARE REPROVED BY HIM; FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES, AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES." I Corinthians 11:30-32 for this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep. But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world.

Dear Friend,

Maybe you think you are too far gone and why would God let you into Heaven? I have good news for you! God wants the entire WORLD to  go to Heaven - he created both Heaven and Earth. We will all die. I'm in my 30's that means I have only  40-50 years left in THIS life, maybe less. How much time do you have?  Here are some common questions people have before trusting Christ as their savior.
